The thing is that the PS3 never hit mass market price in Japan and didn't have the software support early on, but I'm sure Sony wants to continue with this momentum with whatever they have for e3. *wink* *wink*
How long was the Eye Toy in development before being revealed in 2002? How long was talk of the Eye Toy floating around the development community before being launched in 2003?
Also, the Eye Toy has sold 10.5mil units to date.

I laugh at people who say Japan isn't relevant or is dying. You had Nintendo say that Japan's market is shrinking, because of their low sales. So, a $399.99 console is outselling the Wii 5:1 in a shrinking market?

The FFXIII demo did good things. This is probably the highest sales spike since MGS4 came out- which had sold 88k PS3's the first week.
That may be true, but what's stopping the PS4 from building the type of lead Nintendo has? Sony has global appeal. Something Microsoft doesn't have with its xbox brand.
I also recall the PS3 being $600.00 at launch. I guess that had no effect on the PlayStation 3's penetration in the market?
